If you see an unauthorized or unrecognized charge on your KAST card, you can file a chargeback to dispute it and request a refund. This article explains what a chargeback is, how to submit one, how long it takes, and what to expect from the review process.

What Is a Chargeback on KAST?

A chargeback is when KAST disputes a transaction with the merchant’s payment network on your behalf. It is typically used when the charge was fraudulent, unauthorized, or not resolved directly with the merchant.

What Steps Should I Follow to File a Chargeback?

  1. Freeze your card immediately: Open the KAST app and freeze your card to block further unauthorized activity (see next section for steps on how to freeze your KAST card).
  2. Contact the merchant: Request a cancellation or refund directly. Many disputes can be resolved faster this way.
  3. Prepare supporting documents: Collect the transaction details, your communication with the merchant, and any proof the charge was unauthorized.
  4. Submit your request to KAST: Reach out to KAST Concierge through our available support channels within 50 days of the transaction date, using your registered KAST email. Attach all documents and explain why the charge was unauthorized.
  5. Understand the review process: Each chargeback requires a $30 processing fee. Reviews may take up to 90 days, and approval is not guaranteed.

When Will I Receive My Refund?

If your chargeback is approved, the refunded amount will be credited to your KAST account, where you can use the funds or withdraw them.

The overall chargeback process can take up to 90 days, depending on the complexity of the case and the time required for the merchant and card network to complete their review.

Stage Typical Timeframe
Merchant response 15–30 business days
Chargeback investigation and review Up to 90 days
Refund credited to your KAST Cash Account After the chargeback is approved

Can I File Multiple Chargebacks at the Same Time?

Yes, you can file more than one chargeback if you have multiple unauthorized transactions.

  • Separate cases required: Each disputed transaction must be filed individually.
  • Unique evidence needed: Provide receipts, communication logs, or proof for each charge.
  • Independent review process: Every chargeback is assessed separately, and outcomes may differ.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel a chargeback request after filing?

Yes. If the merchant resolves the issue directly, contact KAST Concierge as soon as possible to withdraw your request. This allows us to update the status of your case accordingly.

Will I get my $30 fee back if my chargeback is approved?

No, the $30 processing fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome. It covers administrative and investigation costs.

Can I dispute a transaction I authorized but regret?

No, chargebacks only apply to unauthorized or fraudulent transactions. Legitimate purchases or “buyer’s remorse” are not eligible.

What happens if the merchant provides evidence against my claim?

If the merchant proves the transaction was valid, the chargeback may be denied. In this case, the charge will remain on your account.

Can I still use my card while a chargeback is in progress?

Yes, your card remains active unless you choose to replace it. Only the disputed transaction is under review.

Do chargebacks affect my KAST account status?

No, filing a valid chargeback does not impact your account. However, repeated disputes without evidence may trigger compliance reviews.
