Do I need to take any action following the migration?
All Brazilian users have been automatically migrated to KAST Brasil from 16 October 2026.
If your CPF is already registered, no further migration action is required, and you can continue using KAST services normally. Continued use constitutes agreement to the migration and the KAST Brasil Terms & Conditions.
If your CPF is missing, you must provide it before you can resume using services beyond withdrawals.
If you do not agree to the migration or the new terms, stop using KAST and contact KAST Concierge to close your account.
Why is my account in withdrawal-only mode?
If you have not provided your CPF, your account will be placed in withdrawal-only mode. You can still withdraw your funds, but you must provide your CPF before you can resume using other KAST services.
Users whose CPF is already registered can continue using services normally following the automatic migration. Contact KAST Concierge if you need help providing your CPF or understanding your account status.
What is changing for KAST users in Brazil?
KAST is aligning its operations with Brazil’s crypto-asset regulatory framework. The changes include:
- Automatic migration of all Brazilian users to KAST Brasil from 16 October 2026
- Introducing new regulatory reporting requirements under DeCripto, which now will be done by the local Brazil entity not the global entity anymore
- Adapting or discontinuing products that may not be compatible with the new rules
- Introducing additional compliance controls for transfers and account activity
Why is KAST preparing to apply for a VASP license in Brazil?
KAST is preparing to apply for authorization as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) so it can continue serving customers in Brazil within the local regulatory framework.
The goal is to continue supporting local and international money movement while meeting Brazil’s regulatory requirements.
Is KAST Brasil already licensed?
No. KAST Brasil has an active CNPJ and is preparing to submit its VASP authorization application by 30 October 2026.
A CNPJ does not mean that VASP authorization has been approved. Establishing the Brazilian entity, submitting an authorization application, and receiving approval are separate steps.
What is DeCripto?
DeCripto is a crypto-asset reporting obligation established by IN RFB nº 2.291/2025. It replaces the previous IN RFB nº 1.888/2019 framework for operations from 1 July 2026 onward.
Under DeCripto, reportable crypto operations may need to be reported monthly to the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service. Depending on the activity, this may include:
- Crypto conversions
- Certain card-related transactions
- Information about balances
- Other information required under the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF)
These reporting obligations apply to the relevant reporting entities. They do not necessarily mean that every user must submit a separate report themselves.
When does DeCripto reporting apply?
DeCripto applies to relevant crypto operations from 1 July 2026.
Monthly submissions are due by the last business day of the following month. For example, reporting for eligible operations from July is due by the last business day of August.
The first monthly DeCripto submission deadline was 31 August 2026, covering reportable operations from July.
Is KAST still filing under IN RFB nº 1.888/2019?
For operations from 1 July 2026 onward, DeCripto is the applicable reporting framework. It replaces IN RFB nº 1.888/2019 for that period.
Which KAST products may change or be discontinued?
By 30 October 2026, KAST expects to adapt or discontinue products that are not compatible with the new regulatory requirements.
Potentially affected products may include:
- Lending or credit products
- Certain Earn or yield products
Product availability may vary by account and region. KAST will provide further information if a product in your account is affected.
What happens to funds in an affected product?
After 30 October 2026, balances held in discontinued or restricted products are expected to move to your spending account.
The transfer is not expected to reduce your principal balance. However, if your funds are held in an affected Earn or yield product, they may stop generating yield once they are moved out of that product.
What if my CPF is missing from my account?
You must provide your CPF before you can continue using KAST services beyond withdrawals.
Your account has been automatically migrated to KAST Brasil from 16 October 2026, but it will be placed in withdrawal-only mode until you provide your CPF. Contact KAST Concierge if you need help.
Does every international card purchase create a remittance linked to my CPF in Sisbacen?
Not necessarily.
International card transactions may be treated as foreign-exchange operations or international flows. Under the operating model being implemented, these transactions are expected to be recorded in KAST’s controls and reported by the Brazilian entity through C212/ACAM212 reporting.
This does not automatically mean that every international card purchase creates an individual international remittance contract linked to your CPF in Sisbacen in the same way as a traditional foreign-exchange contract.
What is the Travel Rule?
The Travel Rule requires information about the sender and recipient to be captured for applicable crypto transfers.
KAST’s planned milestones are:
- 2 February 2027: Full capture of sender and recipient information for transfers within Brazil
- 2 February 2028: Full capture of sender and recipient information for international transfers
You may need to provide additional sender or recipient information when making or receiving applicable transfers.
What other compliance controls will KAST maintain?
KAST plans to maintain ongoing controls covering:
- Anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements
- Transaction monitoring
- Partner due diligence
- Segregation of BRL accounts
- Periodic proof-of-reserves audits
These controls may result in additional verification or information requests for certain accounts or transactions.
Will KAST send more information about the migration?
Yes. KAST will send official customer communications with more information about:
- The automatic migration to KAST Brasil from 16 October 2026
- The new KAST Brasil Terms & Conditions
- CPF requirements
- Products affected by the regulatory changes
- Any additional steps required for your account
By continuing to use KAST services, you agree to the migration and the new KAST Brasil Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, stop using KAST and contact KAST Concierge to close your account.
