This article explains why your KAST transaction might be declined and provides steps you can take to complete it successfully.

What Are the Possible Reasons My Transaction Was Declined?

  • Insufficient Funds: If your available balance doesn't fully cover the transaction amount, the payment will be declined.
  • Card or Account Restrictions: Transactions may be declined if your card has been frozen, locked, canceled, not yet activated, or if your KAST account has been temporarily restricted or suspended.
  • Card Limits Exceeded: If the transaction exceeds your card's available spending limit or any custom spending limits you've set, it will be declined.
  • Incorrect Card Details: Entering the wrong card number, expiry date, CVV, or PIN can cause the transaction to fail. Repeatedly entering an incorrect CVV or expiry date may temporarily freeze your card for security reasons.
  • Transaction Not Supported: Some transaction types, merchants, countries, or regions may not be supported, causing the payment to be declined.
  • Security or Compliance Checks: KAST may decline a transaction if unusual activity is detected or if additional compliance checks are required to protect your account and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Digital Wallet Issues: If there's a problem adding or using your KAST card with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or another supported digital wallet, your transaction may be declined until the issue is resolved.
  • Merchant or Terminal Issues: Some merchants may experience system errors or may not support all Visa card types, which can result in a declined transaction.
  • Bank or Network Issues: Temporary outages or delays affecting the payment network may cause transactions to fail. In many cases, you can try the transaction again later.

How Can I Prevent Future Declines?

Proactive steps go a long way in ensuring your transactions go through smoothly:

  • Maintain a buffer balance: Always keep slightly more than you intend to spend to avoid insufficient funds. For example, if your purchase is $95, aim to keep at least $100 in your account.
  • Enable notifications: Turn on transaction alerts in the KAST app to monitor activity in real-time and spot issues quickly.
  • Update card details regularly: Make sure merchants have your current card information on file, especially for recurring payments.
  • Check restrictions before traveling: Some countries or merchants may trigger fraud prevention systems. Let KAST Concierge know about upcoming international trips to minimize disruptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my transaction was declined?

You’ll know your transaction was declined if you see an error message at the payment terminal, receive a notification in your KAST app, or notice the payment doesn’t appear in your account history. In some cases, you may also receive an email or SMS confirming the decline.

What if my transaction is declined repeatedly?

If you experience multiple declines, it may point to an issue beyond a one-time error. Contact KAST Concierge so they can review your account and resolve any underlying problem.

Can my transaction fail because of daily or monthly limits?

Yes. If you’ve set a pending limit on your KAST account, transactions above that limit will fail. Additionally, some merchants, banks, or payment processors may enforce their own limits.

Can international transactions be declined on my KAST card?

Yes, international transactions may be declined if the destination country has regulatory restrictions or if the merchant does not accept Visa cards. In addition, some banks and payment processors impose extra checks on cross-border payments, which can cause declines.

How do I resolve a decline due to suspected fraud?

If KAST flags your payment as suspicious, you may be asked to confirm the transaction in-app before retrying. If the issue persists, contact KAST Concierge to verify your identity and restore access to payments.
