This article explains the difference between KAST Company Cards and Employee Cards in KAST Business. You’ll learn who each card type is designed for, how spending and permissions work, what admins and employees can see, and how card limits and controls are managed.
What Is a KAST Company Card?
A Company Card is a KAST Business card issued directly against the shared business account balance and represents the business as a whole rather than a specific employee.
Company Cards are typically used for shared operational expenses, such as:
- Software subscriptions
- Advertising spend
- Vendor payments
- General business expenses
Owners and Admins with access to the card can view the full card details. Company Cards should not be shared with employees. If a team member needs a card for business spending, an Owner or Admin should issue an Employee Card instead.
What Is a KAST Employee Card?
A KAST Employee Card is a spending card assigned to a specific team member while still using the shared business account balance. Employee Cards are designed for controlled spending and expense management, and they can be assigned to Employees or Admins.
Each Employee Card:
- Is assigned to one Employee or Admin only
- Cannot be shared between multiple users
- Can only be viewed by the assigned cardholder
- Uses the shared business account balance
An Employee or Admin can hold multiple Employee Cards if needed.
Employees may be able to use KAST Business as business-only users without completing Full KYC for a personal KAST account. However, they may still need to provide basic information, such as legal name, date of birth, and ID number, for required screening.
What’s the Main Difference Between Company Cards and Employee Cards?
The biggest difference is visibility and ownership.
| Feature | Company Card | Employee Card |
|---|---|---|
| Intended user | Owners/Admins | Specific Employee or Admin |
| Card ownership | Represents the business | Assigned to one Employee or Admin |
| Full card detail visibility | Owners/Admins | Assigned cardholder only |
| Shared with employees | No | Only assigned cardholder |
| Funding source | Business balance | Business balance |
| Virtual or physical | Virtual only | Virtual only |
Who Can View Card Details?
Company Cards
Owners and Admins can view full Company Card details, including sensitive card information such as PAN and CVV. Employees cannot access or view Company Cards.
Employee Cards
Only the assigned cardholder can view sensitive Employee Card details. Owners and Admins can generally see only limited information, such as the last four digits of the card, unless the Employee Card is assigned to them.
