What Happens When You Spend From Your Reserve Account?

  • Updated

Important: When you make a purchase, funds are deducted from your USD Virtual Account first. If the purchase amount is higher than your USD Virtual Account balance, eligible funds may also be deducted from your Reserve Account.

How Spending Affects Your Reserve Balance

Your Reserve Account is tracked separately from your USD Virtual Account, and your Reserve balance can be higher than your USD Virtual Account balance.

When you make a purchase, KAST uses your USD Virtual Account balance first. If the purchase amount is higher than your USD Virtual Account balance, eligible funds may also be deducted from your Reserve Account. You don't need to move funds manually or take any additional action when Reserve can be used for the purchase.

Why Your Reserve Balance May Change

Your Reserve balance may change when eligible Reserve funds are used to help complete a purchase that is higher than your USD Virtual Account balance.

How to Use Your Reserve Rewards

Once Reserve Rewards are credited to your USD Virtual Account, they become part of your available USD balance.

You can use them just like other available USD in your account, including for KAST Card purchases or any supported transfers and withdrawals available in the KAST app.

How It Works

  1. Add eligible USD to your Reserve Account.
  2. KAST calculates your eligible Reserve balance each day.
  3. Eligible Reserve Rewards are credited to your USD Virtual Account as cashback.
  4. Once credited, those rewards become part of your available USD balance.
  5. You can spend them anywhere your KAST Card is accepted, subject to your available balance.

Examples

Example 1: Spending After Receiving Reserve Rewards

  • You keep $200 in your Reserve Account.
  • You earn eligible Reserve Rewards.
  • The rewards are credited to your USD Virtual Account.
  • You can immediately use those funds for purchases, subscriptions, or other supported transactions.

Example 2: Spending Reduces Your Reserve Balance

  • You have $30 in your USD Virtual Account and $80 in Reserve.
  • You spend $50 with your KAST Card.
  • KAST deducts $30 from your USD Virtual Account first.
  • If eligible, the remaining $20 is deducted from your Reserve Account.
  • Since your eligible Reserve balance is now lower, your future Reserve Rewards may also be lower.

Example 3: Spending Your Reserve Rewards

  • You earn $2 in Reserve Rewards.
  • The rewards are credited to your USD Virtual Account.
  • Your available USD balance increases by $2.
  • You can spend those rewards just like the rest of your available USD balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Spend Money Directly From My Reserve Account?

Yes. When eligible, KAST can use your Reserve balance as a funding source for card purchases. You do not need to manually move funds before spending.

Do I Need to Transfer Money Back to My USD Virtual Account Before Paying?

No. If your Reserve balance is eligible to fund your purchase, KAST automatically uses it according to the current product rules.

What Happens to My Reserve Balance After I Make a Purchase?

If your purchase is higher than your USD Virtual Account balance and eligible Reserve funds are used, your Reserve balance decreases by the amount deducted from Reserve.

Will Spending Reduce My Future Reserve Rewards?

It can. If eligible Reserve funds are deducted for a purchase, your eligible Reserve balance decreases, and future Reserve Rewards may also be lower. Reserve Rewards already credited to your USD Virtual Account remain available to use.

Is There a Minimum Amount Required to Earn Reserve Rewards?

Yes. You need at least $2 USD in your Reserve Account to be eligible to earn Reserve Rewards for that day. Any additional eligibility requirements are shown in the KAST app and current program terms.

Can I Add More Money to My Reserve Account After Spending?

Does Every Card Purchase Use My Reserve Balance?

Not necessarily. Whether your Reserve balance is used depends on how your eligible balances are applied at the time of the transaction.

Can My Reserve Reward Rate Change?

Yes. Reserve Rewards are promotional and offered at KAST's discretion. Reward rates, eligibility, reward caps, and availability can change, pause, or end at any time according to the Terms.
