How Are Reserve Rewards Calculated?

  • Updated

Important: Reserve Rewards are promotional cashback rewards calculated daily based on your eligible Reserve balance. Your reward rate depends on your KAST membership tier and the current program terms.

What Are Reserve Rewards?

Reserve Rewards are promotional cashback rewards you can earn by keeping eligible USD in your KAST Reserve Account.

Eligible rewards are:

  • Calculated daily
  • Credited to your USD Virtual Account as cashback
  • Instantly available once credited

Reserve Rewards are not interest, APY, yield, or an investment return.

What Affects Your Reserve Rewards?

The amount of Reserve Rewards you earn depends on:

  1. Your eligible Reserve balance
  2. Your membership tier
  3. The reward rate for your membership tier
  4. Any applicable reward cap
  5. How long your funds remain in Reserve during the UTC day
  6. The minimum balance requirement

If your Reserve balance changes during the day, your rewards are calculated only for the period that each eligible balance remains in Reserve.

How Are Reserve Rewards Calculated?

Reserve Rewards are calculated using your annual reward rate, adjusted for the amount of eligible USD you hold and the time it remains in your Reserve Account during each UTC day.

A simplified daily calculation is:

Daily reward = Eligible Reserve balance × (Annual reward rate ÷ 365)

If your Reserve balance changes during the day, KAST calculates rewards separately for each balance period and combines them into your total daily reward.

For each balance period:

Segment reward = Eligible balance × Applicable reward rate ÷ 365 × (Time held ÷ 24 hours)

All Reserve Reward calculations use UTC time.

Example: Daily Reward Calculation

If you're a Standard member with $1,000 in eligible Reserve balance for a full UTC day, and your current reward rate is 6%, the simplified calculation is:

$1,000 × (6% ÷ 365) = approximately $0.16

Note: This example is for illustration purposes only. Your actual rewards may vary depending on your eligible balance, membership tier, reward caps, transfer timing, rounding, and the current program terms.

How Membership Tiers Affect Reserve Rewards

Your Reserve Reward rate depends on your KAST membership tier and the current program terms.

During the boosted introductory period, the reward rates are:

Membership Tier Boosted Reward Rate Reward Cap Balance Above the Cap
Standard Up to 6% No stated cap under current terms
Premium Up to 9% Up to $50,000 Up to 6%
Private Up to 12% Up to $200,000 Up to 6%

Reward rates notice: Boosted introductory rate. Variable, set at KAST's discretion. Ends 31 December 2026 or when total Reserve deposits reach $100M, whichever comes first. Then reverts to the standard rate. T&Cs apply.

How Reward Caps Work

Premium and Private members receive higher reward rates up to their membership tier's reward cap.

If your eligible Reserve balance exceeds the cap, different portions of your balance earn different reward rates.

For example, if you're a Premium member with $80,000 in Reserve during the boosted introductory period:

  • The first $50,000 earns 9%
  • The remaining $30,000 earns the Standard reward rate of 6%

Your total daily reward is calculated by combining the rewards earned across both balance portions.

Note: The higher reward rate applies only to the eligible balance within your membership tier's reward cap.

Minimum Balance Required

You need at least $2 in eligible Reserve balance to earn Reserve Rewards.

If your eligible Reserve balance is below this amount, you may not receive Reserve Rewards for that day.

The same minimum applies when transferring funds into your Reserve Account.

What Happens if You Add or Withdraw Funds During the Day?

Reserve Rewards are calculated based on how long your eligible funds remain in Reserve during the UTC day.

For example:

  • Funds added during the day begin earning rewards from the time they enter Reserve.
  • Funds removed from Reserve stop earning rewards from the time they leave.
  • Funds added shortly before the daily cutoff earn rewards only for the time they remain in Reserve before the calculation period ends.

This ensures your rewards accurately reflect the time your eligible balance was held in Reserve.

When Are Reserve Rewards Posted?

Reserve Rewards are calculated daily and credited to your USD Virtual Account as cashback.

Rewards are typically posted at the end of each UTC day. In some cases, posting may take slightly longer.

Once credited, your cashback is available to use immediately in your USD Virtual Account. You do not need to redeem it first.

Do Reserve Rewards Compound Automatically?

No. Reserve Rewards are credited to your USD Virtual Account as cashback and are not automatically added back to your Reserve Account.

To make credited cashback eligible for future Reserve Rewards, you would need to move eligible USD from your USD Virtual Account into your Reserve Account using the Add Money flow, subject to the current program terms.

Can My Reward Rate Change?

Yes. Reserve Rewards are promotional and offered at KAST's discretion. Reward rates, eligibility requirements, reward caps, availability, and program terms may change, be paused, or end at any time according to the Terms.

You can always view your current reward rate and applicable terms in the KAST app.
